核心摘要:New signs a must for Rays in Game 4

CHICAGO -- When asked about the aggressive play of the White Sox in Game 3 when they stole three bases, Rays manager Joe Maddon raised the question of whether White Sox runners had a little edge.

"I thought the big play was we had a pretty good chance of throwing out [Dewayne] Wise and we did not on that one, the steal that he scored eventually on [A.J.] Pierzynski's single," Maddon said. "That was our best chance. That was a high fastball and good location to throw. Otherwise he ran on breaking balls. I don't know if they're peeking or not. They might be peeking and getting our signs."

Juan Uribe and Brian Anderson also had steals, and, as Maddon pointed out, both came when Matt Garza threw curveballs on a day when he threw primarily fastballs.

"Just curious," Maddon said. "I mean, everybody is welcome to, everybody is entitled to steal signs, that's how the game works.

"... With a runner at first base. There's different ways of [stealing signs and relaying the information to the baserunner], and it's just a matter of where it's coming from. Maybe they got lucky, I don't know."

Maddon said the Rays will likely deliver their signals in a different manner for Game 4, and that duty will fall to catcher Dioner Navarro and not the Rays' bench.
